Example of glossary
A user has written an email to me:
Dear Mr. Vít Starý Novotný,
I would like to contribute to the fithesis project. I am using fithesis and noticed few inconsistencies and issues that I wanted to report, and possibly suggest some changes.
The most recent one is regarding the glossaries or terms and abbreviations section. It appears that fithesis does not include a working example of glossary in overleaf (and probably in gitlab too), however interestingly enough the templates include
example-terms-abbrs.tex
file. I did a little investigation and found that in the original fithesis4 thesis there was some commented code which worked, but it seems that it is not really up to the standard formatting of this section. So I spent some time figuring out how to make it look similar to the docx thesis template and most other theses I saw, and I managed to achieve a somewhat good result. I wanted to share it with you and suggest to implement something similar (my code is a mess, so a more elaborate solution would be nice). To share it with you I applied the changes to econ fithesis template from overleaf, and made a diff file that I attached in this email. Also I have attached an image showing how it looks. In case you will have issues compiling it, please let me know. I didn't compile it in overleaf because it times out, and locally I am unable to compile the default template because of dependency issues, but I think it should work fine.
Another issue I noticed is with the ordering of lists in the econ version of fithesis. It should be before the content rather than after. I explained the problem in detail and provided a solution in this forum post [already tracked in #41].
The reason I am contributing through email is because I am a student from Faculty of Economics and Administration and I do not have access to GitLab FI. I believe that using email would be more appropriate than the forum.
Thanks,
Best regards,
Ivan
Excuse me, I forgot to mention that it is important to run
makeglossaries
command when compiling it. The order should be something like:pdflatex econ-pdflatex.tex biber econ-pdflatex makeglossaries econ-pdflatex pdflatex econ-pdflatex.tex pdflatex econ-pdflatex.tex
